I was asked by Mary Manley of Barter Books to develop the brief and international call out for artists for the Charleston Landmark in Missouri USA. I undertook a site visit in Summer 2024, established a Steering Group in Charleston who were succesfull in seccuring a donation of a prime site for the project in the centre of town.
Mary’s objective for the project is that it will attract visitors into Charleston from the main highway that runs from New Orleans to Chicago, and that the feature be a stand-alone sculpture that either moves or transforms in a way that is fascinating to watch and will repeat many times during the day in order to engage visitors of all ages.
The shortlisted artists are Bruce Rosenbaum, Adam Frank, Richard Wilson, Joseph O'Connell, Andy Plant with Tim Hunkin and Ralfonso and in April 2026 I organised and exhibition of the artists deisgn proposals in Charleston Missouri which enabled over 700 people to engage with the artists ideas.
