I was asked by Mary Manley of Barter Books to develop the brief and internationlal call out for artists for the Charleston Landmark in Missouri USA. I undertook a site visit in Summer 2024, established a Steering Group in Charleston who were succesfull in seccuring a donation of a prime site for the project in the centre of town.
Mary’s objective for the project is that it will attract visitors into Charleston from the main highway that runs from New Orleans to Chicago, and that the feature be a stand-alone sculpture that either moves or transforms in a way that is fascinating to watch and will repeat many times during the day in order to engage visitors of all ages.
