The 2019 programme at Cheeseburn saw an increasingly ambitious use of spaces and buildings for installations, including Erin Dickinson's 3D printed chandelier welcoming visitors to the stables, Briggita Jurack's ceramic monkeys across the formal gardens and Ayako Tanis extraordinary collection of glass ships in bottles filling the pews in the Chapel.
Claire Townley created over 100m of recycled plastic 'vines' to produce her woodland installation which marked the third year of support and mentoring for the Gillian Dickinson North East Young Sculptor of the Year award.
In the stables gallery I programmed two solo exhibitions of artists who work experimentally with stone. Simon Hitchens presented his durational solar drawings and previewed his proposal to create the Elizabeth Landmark in Northumberland, Louise Plant presented a new set of carvings inspired by water vortex's and collaborated with sound artist Bennet Hogg to great a video and sound installation in the stables.
