Whilst working for Arts Council England I also took on the role as Culture Representative for the North East England Office in Brussels in 2009.
Each European region had an office base in Brussels where businesses, universities and funders could gather when attending EU meetings or conferences. At the time the North East was a priority place for European ERDF funding and over 18 months I developed an exhibition space and cultural programme in the North East office which aimed to showcase arts and heritage projects from the North East, raise the profile of the regions cultural offer and stimulate partnerships and joint funding applications.
My role included engagement and advocacy with MEP's and EU Officers, bringing NE creatives to Brussels for showcase events and conferences, bringing EU Officers to the North East and raising the profile of EU Funding for NE culture organisations.
