Sheraton Park: Sculpture and poetry, Durham 2017
Information +

I felt the artists brief for Sheraton Park needed link to Durham Cathedral with the international students who were coming to study at Ustinov College and live in Durham. Inspired by St Cuthberts pilgrimage from Holy Island to Durham we asked three international sculptors to each respond with an artwork inspired by a 'pilgrimage' story from their countries. The three countries (China, USA and Italy) were chosen as that was where the majority of students were travelling from at the time.
The sculptures are at the centre of a new public park between the two buildings and are accompanied by commissioned poetry on the theme of 'Welcome' by poet Ira Lightman.
