I worked with Lord Devonport in 2018 to develop his concept into an artists brief and I then organised an invited design competition which led to the selection of artist Simon Hitchens and his ambitious proposal for the Elizabeth Landmark which is intended as a permanent 55m tall artwork exploring the life of Queen Elizabeth and the Commonwealth. The project is the long-term vision of Lord Devonport who has gifted the land at Cold Law in Northumberland for the project.
I have continued to work on the project and after leading the initial Planning Application team, I then helped to secure Planning Permission through a Planning Appeal process. I have worked to set up a Charitable Trust to develop the project and have organised exhibitions of the design proposals and the launch of the Charity at the Royal Society of Arts in 2024.
The project 'broke ground' on site in autumn 2024 and is currently underway with a fundraising campaign.
